THE ART OF NEIGHBORING

All of our lives have been significantly altered in an effort to limit the spread and impact of the cornavirus. Being deligent to practice social distancing and following the guidelines established by public officials is vital to our own safety and to the safety of others. However, as we engage in physical distancing practices, it’s important to note that there is a big difference between social distancing and social isolation. As the Church, we called to love our neighbors. If you are looking for some creative and safe ways to connect with your neighbors, click here.

DISCIPLESHIP EXPLORED COURSE

While fear grips our world – there is nothing better than reminding ourselves of the gospel and growing in our love of it. I want to encourage you to join in on a study through Paul’s letter to the Philippians over these coming weeks entitled, “Discipleship Explored.”

This course helps followers of Jesus turn up the gospel soundtrack to their lives, and goes beyond simply teaching the right moves – go to church, pray, read the Bible, share the gospel – and focuses on the music which drives discipleship: the love of Christ. The greatest love anyone can ever know.

This is ideal for believers at any stage of the Christian life.

If you are interested in joining this study online using Zoom, please sign up by clicking on the appropriate button below for login details.

ORDER OF WORSHIP

Use the liturgy below as your guide while you watch this morning’s Home Edition …

CALL TO WORSHIP

Good morning! Let’s rally around God’s word, and hear how the Psalmist describes our steady and constant father and Lord:

1 We praise you, God, we praise you, for your Name is near;

people tell of your wonderful deeds.

2 You say, “I choose the appointed time; it is I who judge with equity.

3 When the earth and all its people quake, it is I who hold its pillars firm.             -Psalm 75:1-3 NIV

Let’s sing!

SONG: You Never Let Go

CONFESSION/LAMENT

For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. – Hebrews 4:12 NIV

How do we respond? … again, we may turn to his word for guidance:

8 But he’s already made it plain how to live, what to do, what God is looking for in men and women. It’s quite simple: Do what is fair and just to your neighbor, be compassionate and loyal in your love, And don’t take yourself too seriously – take God seriously. – Micah 6:8 The Message

SONG: Yet Not I

ASSURANCE | GIVING

My soul continually remembers it and is bowed down within me.

But this I call to mind, and therefore I have hope:

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases;

his mercies never come to an end;

they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.

“The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, “therefore I will hope in him.”

-Lamentations 3:20-24

As we have just read, the love that God our Father has for us never ends, and he has great faithfulness towards us, his children. It is the steadfast love of the Lord that gives us hope, knowing that we can trust in our Father who knows you, loves you, and keeps you.

As God’s prized possessions, let’s take a moment and pass the virtual giving baskets. You can give online via Devonshire’s website or snail mail.
